Judith I. (Keith) Beckerink, 81, of Arkport passed away on Thursday, December 24, 2020. Born in Jamestown, August 30, 1939, she was the daughter of Marion and Florence (Johnson) Keith. Judy was a graduate of Sherman Central School, Class of 1957. She received her Bachelor’s Degree from the University at Albany (New York State College for Teachers) and her Master’s Degree from Syracuse University.
Judy taught in Western New York before moving to Hornell where she taught business and Latin at Canisteo Central School and then at Hornell High School prior to her retirement.
Judy lived in North Hornell for 36 years before moving to Arkport in 2003. She was a member of Sherman Community Church and a faithful attendee of the United Methodist Church of Hornell. Judy was a charter member and past president of Beta Chi Chapter, Delta Kappa Gamma educator’s society. She was also co-founder of Park’s Patches Quilt Guild, co-chair of Park’s Patches Quilt show, and past board member of the Arkport Reading Center.
Judy especially enjoyed the “Lunch Bunch,” the Wednesday afternoon craft group, reading to pre-school children, and her many students. She also enjoyed sewing and quilting, reading, playing canasta, time at “the farm,” attending her grandsons’ athletic events, and time spent with family and friends.
Judy was predeceased by her parents; her husband of 55 years, Kenneth Beckerink, to whom she was married in Sherman, NY, on December 31, 1960; and her brother-in-law, Dean Warcup. She is survived by her beloved daughters, Kathryn (Tom) Markel, of Arkport and Karen Beckerink, as well as her beloved grandsons, Joseph Markel of Boston, MA, and Brian Markel of Washington, DC. She is also survived by her sisters, Janice Grant (Hiram) and Norma Warcup as well as several nieces and nephews. Judy was blessed by special friends, Paula, Steve, Mike, and Webster.

. The family is being assisted by Gerald R. Brown, Director. A private funeral service will be held for immediate family. Burial will be in Holland Cemetery, Clymer, NY, at the convenience of the family.
