Joyce C. Griffin,74, of 8113State Rt. 21, passed awaySaturday (January 28, 2006)at St. James Hospital.
Born in Hornell, March 2, 1931, the daughter of Georgeand Margaret Houghtaling Coller, shehad resided all her life in Hornell.She was a graduate of Hornell High School, Class of1949, and received her BA degree from Geneseo State Teachers College. Joyce was employed as a special educationteacher for the Hornell School District as wellas Steuben " Allegany County BOCES for39 years prior to her retirement in1993. She was a life member ofthe First Baptist Churchin Hornell where she had taught Sunday school for several years as well asserving on the Board of Deacons. She wasthe Treasurer for the Almond Grange # 1102 for over 50 years. She was a member of the Steuben MagistratesAssociation, and had served as Judge for the Town of Fremont for 16 years.
She was predeceased byher parents, two sisters Anna Coller, and Ruth Blekkenk, andone brother, Jack Coller.
She is survived by herhusband, Franklin E. Griffin whom she married on June 30, 1956, one daughter:Audrey (John) Wilder of Liverpool, three sons: Thomas (Linda) Griffin of Arkport, Robert (Kelly) Griffin of Hornell and David Griffin of Seattle , WA, 4brothers, George (Joyce) Coller of State College, PA, Lynn (Lulabelle) Collerof Ocala, FLA., Harold (Viola) Coller of Stafford, and Lee (Sue) Coller of Williamson, 8Grandchildren, several nieces & nephews

The family will be present to receive friends from 2-4 & 7-9PM Tuesday at the Bender-Brown &Powers Funeral Home, 354 Canisteo Street, Hornell where a Memorial Service will be held by the Almond Grange#1102 on Tuesday evening at 8 PM. Funeralservices will be held on Wednesday at 10:00 AMat the funeral home with Rev. MichaelChilds officiating. Burial willbe in Stephens Mills Cemetery, Fremont. Funeral arrangements entrusted to Robertson FuneralHome Inc., of Hornell.
