Joy Winifred (Neebuhr) Hanes

On February 4, 2011, Joy was received into Heaven by her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ.
Joy W Hanes, formerly of Belfast, was the daughter of Stuart and Doris Freeland Neebuhr of Silver Creek, NY. She was a member of the Belfast United Methodist Church, where she was very active. She was a member of the choir, and the United Methodist Woman, and was a Sunday School Teacher. Joy enjoyed reading God's Word and attending Bible Studies. She loved to knit and crochet so that her handiwork could be given as gifts to others. In her early years, she worked for Greyhound Bus Lines in Buffalo, as a switchboard operator and ticket agent.
She was predeceased by her parents, and her husband Edward Hanes Jr. of Belfast.
Joy is survived by her daughter Cher Button-Dobmeier and son in law Todd Dobmeier of Angelica, and her step daughter Elberta Garrison of Wallkill, NY.
Her family will be present to receive friends from 10am-12noon on Saturday (February 12, 2011) at the Bender-Brown & Powers Funeral Home 354 Canisteo St. Hornell, where a C-celebration of her life will be held at 12:00pm. Burial will be at the Until the Day Dawn Cemetery in Angelica.
