Joseph Anthony Libordi, 86, of 8 11th Street passed away unexpectedly Friday (August 14, 2020) at his home.
Born in Hornell, April 15, 1934, the son of Sebastian and Rose Grillo Libordi, he had lived his entire life in the Hornell-Canisteo area. He was a graduate of Hornell High School, and had served his country as a member of the United States Coast Guard from 1954 to 1956. Joe had been employed as a welder for the former Foster Wheeler, Erie Railroad and the New York State Department of Transportation in Hornell.
Joe was a member of the Sons Of Italy, G. Carducci Lodge in Hornell, and the Canisteo American Legion. Joe enjoyed hunting, fishing, and gardening all with a cold Genny in his hand. Most of all, he loved cooking for his family especially his grandchildren-Italian French Toast, frittatas, and pepper sandwiches.
Joe was predeceased by his parents, his wife Linda Libordi in 2017, as well as his sisters; Angeline Bertuzzi, and Frances Libordi, his brothers; Frank and Anthony Libordi and his Grandson Zachary Sebastian Wall.
He is survived by three daughters; Lisa (Peter) Wall, Chris (Schuyler) Wallace and Susan Carter, all of Canisteo, his sister; Rosalie (John) Tobin of Hornell, his sisters-in-law, Lena (the late Frank) Libordi of Bath, and Sylvia Gerould of Newark, New York, his grandchildren; Katie Wall, Nick (Kevin) Wall, Matt (Brandi) Wall, Olivia (Nathan) Palmer, Sarah Faltisco, Emily Mayorga, Jake Mayorga, Tyler Carter and Joseph Carter, Great Grand Children; Nixon Koscielniak, Xavier Mayorga, Bently Mayorga, Dominic Mayorga, Eleanor Palmer, Theodore Palmer, Augustus Palmer,Penelope Wall, and Lilliana Wall, several nieces and nephews.

Family and friends are invited to attend a celebration of Joe’s life on Saturday (August 22, 2020) from 2 PM until 7 PM at the home of Peter and Lisa Wall, 100 Greenwood Street, Canisteo, New York 14823. Burial will be in Woodlawn Cemetery in Canisteo.
