Jonathan W. O'Dell, 54, of Orchard St., entered Heaven Monday (November 14, 2016) at home surrounded by his family.
Born in Hornell, NY, December 18, 1961, a son of Francis W. and Elaine Smith O'Dell Sr., he had resided in Savona, the last nine years. Jonathan was a graduate of Hornell High School. On May 9, 1981 he married the former Dawn Westmiller. In 1981 Jonathan joined the United States Air Force to whom he served faithfully for 23 years. During his time in the military he served in the Philippines for 3 years, in Desert Storm and Iraqi Freedom as part of the 174th Fighter Wing Syracuse, NY. Jonathan was a former member of the West Danby Fire Department, the Harvest Baptist Church in Bath, the Auxiliary Police Department in Homer, NY, and Friends of Homer Wrestling. He also performed security detail for the 1996 Atlanta Olympics. Jonathan enjoyed hunting, target practicing and was an excellent marksman.
He was predeceased by his father, Francis W. O'Dell Sr. in 1991.
He is survived by his wife, Dawn of 35 years, his mother Elaine (Jack) Lamphier of Woodhull, two sons; Patrick (April Blake) O'Dell of Savona and Sean (Alyssa) O'Dell of Painted Post, three brothers; Francis (Dixie) O'Dell Jr. of Hornell, Timothy (Sara) O'Dell of Hornell and Geoffrey (Cheryl) O'Dell of Olean, one sister Darlene O'Dell of Woodhull, two grandchildren; Brodie Blake and Bayleigh Grace O'Dell, as well as several nieces and nephews.

The family will be present to receive friends on Thursday, November 17, 2016, from 6-8PM at the Harvest Baptist Church, 7568 NY-54, Bath, NY 14810, and on Friday From 1-2PM with a memorial service to follow at the Harvest Baptist Church at 2:00 PM, Pastor Alan Lindmark officiating.
