Jon M. Davis, 75, of East Main Street, passed away peacefully Sunday (August 2, 2015) at his home surrounded by his family following a courageous battle with cancer.
Born in Hornell, November 4, 1939, the son of Forrest and Florence (Allen) Davis, he had resided all his life in the Hornell area. Jon was a diesel mechanic for the Erie-Lackawanna Railroad for 14 years before becoming a diesel mechanic at the TA Truck Stop in Dansville. He loved building and refurbishing guns and hunting. He was a member of the Hornell Sportsman's club. Jon also loved camping, traveling across country and visiting the casino with his wife.
He was predeceased by his brother Phillip Davis who passed in childhood.
He is survived by his loving wife of 51 years Lois Haynes Davis of Hornell, one son, Jon Davis II of Montana, three daughters, Sandra (Scott) Skillman of East Rochester, Kelly (Troy) Denning and Jacqueline Davis, both of Hornell, eight grandchildren, Jon Brandon (Steacy) Davis, Allison (Ethan) Cornell, Ashley Bebout, Matthew Skillman, Troy Denning, Benjamin Skillman, Zachary Davis and Noah Denning, three great grandchildren, Oscar, Lyla, and Percy Davis.

The family will be present to receive friends from 1-3PM and 6-8PM on Wednesday (August 5, 2015), at the Bender - Brown & Powers Funeral Home, 354 Canisteo St, Hornell. Funeral services will be held on Thursday at 11AM at the funeral home, Pastor Scott Skillman officiating.
