John R. "Jack" "Bub" Tierney

John R. "Jack", "Bub" Tierney, 70, of 70 Cedar Street, passed away unexpectedly Friday (October 29, 2010) shortly after arrival at St. James Mercy Hospital.
Born January 13, 1940 in Hornell, the son of James and Rose Skebey Tierney, he was a lifelong resident of Hornell. Jack graduated from Hornell High School in the Class of 1958 and honorably served his country from 1958- 1962 in the U. S. Marine Corp. During his high school years, he was employed at the former Triangle Shoe Store, and later at the former SKF Indurstries in Hornell, the Bath National Cemetery, the VA Medical Center in Bath and the Canisteo Central School.
He was a life member of the Disabled American Veterans, a member of the American Legion Post #440 of Hornell and the Association. Jack was a member of Our Lady Of The Valley Parish, and a communicant of the former St. Ignatius Loyola Church.
On October 8, 1972, Jack married Marilyn Upton in Avon.
He was predeceased by his parents, and brothers, Daniel, James and Michael.
He is survived by his wife Marilyn of Hornell, his son, James (Tonya) Tierney of Hornell, and grandchildren, Reanna and Riley, his brother, William (Margie) Tierney of Arkport, his sister, Mary Ann (Terrance) Fennelly of Canandaigua, an aunt, uncles, nieces, nephews, and cousins.

Friends may call on Monday from 4 PM until 8 PM at the Bender-Brown & Powers Funeral Home, 354 Canisteo Street, Hornell, where a prayer service will conclude calling hours at 8 PM. A private graveside service will be held for the family at Bath National Cemetery. Deacon Robert McCormick will officiate.
