John Michael "Dead Eye" Shorts, 56, of
5 Stewart Street,passed away Saturday (September23, 2006) at the Steuben CountyHealth Care Facility in Bath.
Born in Hornell, January 29, 1950, the son of John R. andIrene Gillis Shorts, he had resided in Canisteo all his life. Hewas a graduate of Canisteo Central School,Class of 1970 and had been employed in Building construction.
He was predeceased by his father, John "Jack" Shorts in 2000.
He is survived by hismother, Irene Shorts of Canisteo, one sister. Deborah (Tom) Lecceardone of Farmington, NY, 2brothers, Mark and Joel Shorts of Canisteo. 2 nieces Angela (Eric) Calkins ofFarmington and Lisa (Andy) Humphrey of Canandaigua, 1 great nephew Evan XavierCalkins.

The family will be presentto receive friends from 6 PM until 8 PM Monday at the Brown& Powers Funeral Home, 6 SpruceStreet, Canisteo where a funeralservices will be held following calling hours at 8 PM. Rev. Donald Maynard willofficiate. Burial will be in Hillside Cemetery, Canisteo.
