John H. Robords age 89 of Mill Road, passed away peacefully at home with family by his side, in the same house he was born in.
He was born in Howard on August 10, 1935 the son of Charles Robords and Nellie M. Hughes Robords. He was a lifelong area resident, and served in the US Air Force during the Korean Conflict. John was a retired Truck Driver having worked for Carl Willis for 20 years and AL Blades for nearly 20 years. He was a former member of the Hornell Eagles Club, was a charter member of the Howard Fire Department, and a member of the American Legion Post #1350 in Avoca.
He was predeceased by his parents, his granddaughter Marsha Robords, 2 brothers Charles L. Robords, and Rodney Robords, 4 sisters Grace Welch, Pauline Cone, Marion Fletcher, and Rosella Sullivan.
He is survived by his wife of nearly 70 years Roxy Henry Robords, whom he married on November 30, 1955, his son Charles (Janet) Robords of Howard, 2 daughters Brenda (Barry) Kidder of Howard, Janet (Greg) Arnold of Howard, his sister Geraldine LaBreck of Maine, his grandchildren: John C. (Kizzy) Robords of Hornell, Jared (Samantha) Robords of Avoca, Jeffrey A. (Charity) Ross Jr. of Wayland, Jason D. Ross of Bath, Alison M. (Alec) Schumacher of Dansville, Tyler J. (Mercedez) Cornish of Howard, several great and great great grandchildren, several nieces and nephews, and his dog “Lucky”.
The family will be present to receive friends on Thursday (April 24, 2025) at the Living Waters Church in Hornell from 3-6pm where a Funeral Service will take place at 6:00pm with his son Charles “Chuck” Robords to officiate. Burial will be at the Howard Cemetery on Friday with Military Honors.
