John “Jamie” Hurd, 74 of County Route 119, passed away at his home unexpectedly
He was born in Hornell May 19, 1950, the son of John “Jack” Hurd and Anna Jamison Hurd. Jamie was a life long resident of Canisteo and was a graduate of Canisteo Central School.
Jamie proudly served his Country as a member of the United States Navy. He had been employed as a carpenter for the former Hollands Lumber Company in Hornell. A work related accident left him disabled for the past several years.
Jamie will be remembered as a great musician and played the steel guitar and drums for several area bands.
He was predeceased by his parents.
Surviving are his sister, Cindy (Jim) Bigelow of Canisteo,
his niece, Katy Jo (Ronald) Weber of Hilton and their twin sons, Colin and Tyler Weber.
A graveside committal service will be held on Friday (April 25, 2025) at 1 PM at Woodlawn Cemetery in Canisteo. Rev. Michelle Ormsby Serra will officiate.
Funeral arrangements were entrusted to Brown & Powers Funeral Home of Canisteo.
