John J. Dineen “The Hook” long time Canisteo resident, passed away on November 24, 2023 in Florida.
Born at St. James Hospital in Hornell, June 19, 1945 he was the son of Norma and Bernard Dineen.
He married Karen Porter on September 7, 1985, and together they build their own home in Canisteo and resided there for several years until moving to Zephrhills, Florida. They build their second home there, and enjoyed many happy years.
John was employed as a Union Carpenter most all his life until becoming ill. He was an avid outdoors man, loved hunting and gardening. He will most be remembered for his witt and great sense of humor. He showed great love for his entire family.
He was predeceased by his parents, his infant daughter Jaqueline Dineen, and his nephew Dillen McCormick.
John is survived by his wife of 38 years Karen Porter Dineen of Florida, his children; Sandra (Dave) Arceri of Florida, Marc (Echo) Dineen of Hornell and Shawn Dineen of Hornell, his grandchildren, Kevin Arceri, Kelsey Arceri Hanna, Destiny, Dylan and Gracie , Great grandchildren, Corbin Hanna and Colten Hanna, his sister, Linda (Charlie) McCormick of Canisteo, and his brothers, James Dineen of Canisteo, Michael (Helen) Dineen of Florida, William Dineen of Caniseo and Robert (Debra) Dineen of Wallkill., several nieces and nephews.
Honoring John’s wishes, there will be no calling hours or services.
