John R. Burley, 64, of West Genesee St., passed away Tuesday (March 12, 2013) surrounded by his family at St. James Hospital following a short illness.
Born in Dansville, August 9, 1948, the son of Robert and Agnes (Dunn) Burley, he was a lifelong are resident. John served his country in the United States Marine Corps and was a dedicated worker; retiring after 38 years from the Hornell Evening Tribune. He was a member of the Hornell Assoc., the Hornell Moose Lodge and loved fishing, golf and bowling.
He was predeceased by his parents.
He is survived by two sons, Shawn Burley of Houston TX and Andrew Burley of Hornell; two brothers, William Burley of Al and James (Linda) Burley of Hornell; two sisters, Nancy Campbell of Hornell and Linda (Christopher) Lauffer of Penfield; his first wife, Donna Farrend and second wife Rosemary Hartman, several nieces and nephews.
