Canisteo

Jodie Kathryn Dineen, 43, of Canisteo, passed away unexpectedly at her home on Monday, August 25, 2025.

Born on July 23, 1982, she was the daughter of James Dineen and Jeanie Andrus. Jodie was a 2000 graduate of Canisteo Central School, where she excelled athletically and still holds the all-time scoring record for girls' basketball. She went on to earn both her bachelor’s degree and MBA with concentrations in accounting from St. Bonaventure University.

Jodie worked for many years as a Special Auditor and Investigator with the New York State Attorney General’s Medicaid Fraud Control Unit. Outside of her career, she found joy in sharing her love of sports by coaching neighborhood kids and cheering on young athletes. She will be remembered for her passion for the game, her caring heart, and her sharp wit.

She is survived by her parents, James Dineen and Jeanie Andrus; her sister, Marianne Dineen of Painted Post; brothers Jeremy (Bryan Straub) Dineen of Warsaw, Poland, and Josh (Natasha) Dineen of Geneseo; her special aunt, Linda (Charles) McCormick of Canisteo; her niece, Lorain Dineen of Virginia Beach; and many aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces, and nephews.

Jodie was predeceased by her maternal grandparents, Bonnie and Rich Andrus; paternal grandparents, Norma and Bernard Dineen; her aunt, Kathryn Andrus Bossard; her cousin, Dillen McCormick; and her best friend, Sam Peters Smith.

In keeping with her wishes, there will be no public calling hours. A Funeral Mass will be held on Friday, August 29, at 10 a.m. at St. Mary’s Church in Rexville, NY. In lieu of flowers, the family respectfully requests that donations be made to a charity of your choice in memory of Jodie.
