Cartwright, 85 formerly of Arkport and Alfred, passed away on January 4, 2023 at the Hornell Gardens. She was born in Hornell, NY on February 21, 1937 the daughter of Roy M. Schoonover and Doris Reynolds Schoonover. Joanne loved cooking, baking, cats, but most of all her grandchildren and great grandchildren. She was predeceased by her parents, her husband Ernest Cartwright on April 15, 2010, and 2 brothers Neil Schoonover and Homer “Butch” Schoonover. She is survived by her daughter Victoria (David) Vanskiver of Alfred, 2 sons Rickie (Margaret) Cartwright of Alaska, Gary (Jeanne) Cartwright of Hornell, her sister Ruth Ann Bebout of Hornell, 6 grandchildren, and several great grandchildren. A private service will be held at a later date, and burial will be at Maplewood Cemetery in Alfred Station. Funeral arrangements are with the Bender-Brown & Powers Funeral Home. To send a remembrance please visit www.brownandpowersfuneralhomes.com or on Facebook @brownpowersfh, the family is being assisted by director Chester A.
