Joann E. Vanskiver 91, former resident of the Canisteo Manor, passed away Thursday (June 5, 2025) at Elderwood at Hornell.
Born in Hornell, Nov. 28, 1933, she was the daughter of James and Alice Dinehardt Hollister. She had resided all her life in the Hornell- Canisteo area. She had been employed at Westinghouse in Bath for several years, and later Phillips Lighting.
She was predeceased by her parents, her husband, Alfred Vanskiver in 2003, and her sister, Betty Vanscoter, and great grandson Trevor Ellis.
Surviving are her daughters, Charlene (Charles) McGregor of Canisteo, Sandra (Verus “Bill”) Ellis of Canaseraga, her brothers, James and Thomas Hollister of Hornell, Grandchildren, Jason McGregor, Bill Ellis, Todd Ellis, Mike Ellis, great grandchildren, Megan McGregor, Chelsea Ellis, one great great grandchild.
There will be no public calling hours. The family will observe a private service at the Brown & Powers Funeral Home in Canisteo. Burial will be in Jasper Cemetery.
