Jessie R. Knighton, 56, of Prospect Street, passed away
Thursday (May 1, 2025) at Strong Memorial Hospital in Rochester.
Born in Hornell, April 2, 1969, she was the daughter of Albert Jones Sr. and Christine Banks. She had made her home in Hornell her entire life and was a graduate of Hornell High School class of 1988. She had received her Licensed Practical Nurses Degree and had been employed for several years at St. James Hospital in Hornell, McAuley Manor, the Steuben Centers in Bath and as a traveling nurse.
She is survived by her husband, Charles “James” Knighton of Hornell, her parents, Albert Jones Sr. of Avoca and Christine Banks of Rochester, her daughters, Jalessa Knighton of North Chili and Jasmin Knighton of Maryland, her sons, Sean Michael Battle of Hornell and Terrance Knighton of California, her sisters, Clementine Battle of Hornell, Joy Battle of Canisteo, Katina Jones-Waples of North Carolina and Elizabeth Smith of Nevada, her brother, Albert Jones Jr. of Elmira, her 3 grandchildren, Latoya Rowlette, Tyrese Knighton and Tristyn Knighton.
Family and friends are invited to attend visiting hours on Saturday (May 10, 2025) from 11:00 AM until 1:00 PM at the Rehoboth Deliverance Ministries, 112 East Avenue in Hornell where Home Going Services will follow calling hours at 1:00 PM. Pastor Jerome Ellzy with officiate. Burial will follow at Heritage Hill Cemetery in Arkport, NY.
