Jessica Ruth Newell, 38, of 134 Strathmore Drive, passed away unexpectedly Sunday (August 14, 2016) at her home.
Born in Dansville, December 12, 1977, the daughter of Thomas E. and Ruthie Dungan Newell, she spent her early life in Arkport, and later moved to Myrtle Beach and finally to Rochester, where she resided the past several years. Jessica was a graduate of Arkport Central School, Class of 1996, and received her Associates Degree from Alfred State College. She was employed as a waitress at Roc Fish Restaurant in Rochester.
Jessica was a former member of the Arkport United Methodist Church and currently attended Our Father's Church in the Town of Greece, She was a member of the Arkport American Legion Post. Jessica will be remembered for her infectious laugh and her winning smile. She was a great friend to all and a caring and devoted mother to her daughter Macy Jean. She was a beautiful person inside and out and will be greatly missed by all.
She was predeceased by her Mother, Ruthie Newell in 2014, her maternal grandparents, Ernest and Onnolee Dungan, and her paternal grandparents, James and Jean Newell.
She is survived by her daughter, Macy Jean Mitchell age 4 of Rochester, her father, Thomas Newell of Hornell, as well as several aunts, uncles, and cousins who love her dearly. Jessica also leaves many close friends in the Arkport area as well as Rochester and Myrtle Beach.

. The family is being assisted by Gerald R. Brown, Director at Bender-Brown & Powers Funeral Home, 354 Canisteo Street, Hornell.
The family will be present to receive friends on Friday (August 19, 2016) at the Arkport United Methodist Church, at the corner of West Avenue and Main Street in Arkport, NY 14807 from Noon until 2 PM at which time a Memorial Service will be held honoring Jessica's life. Rev. Pam Carey will officiate.
