In Loving Memory of Jason Allen Smith
May 16, 1972 - October 13, 2026
Some people simply live their lives. Others make life better for everyone lucky enough to cross their path. Jason was one of those people.
Jason, 54, passed away on October 13, 2026, surrounded by his wife and family, leaving behind a lifetime of love, laughter, lessons, and memories that will never fade.
Jason was a man who truly loved life. Whether spending time with family, helping a friend, or striking up a conversation with a stranger - he had a way of making everyone feel like they mattered.
Jason was an avid movie watcher, who loved collecting things like stamps and coins. He had a true passion for technology and the act of creating. He always dreamed of creating the first drive-in indoor movie theater - going to the lengths of creating blueprints. Jason had plans to write a memoir to share with the world, writing weekly if not daily about his many adventures in life or simply a dream from the previous night.
He proudly served in the United States Army from 1994 to 2012, dedicating 18 years to his country and earning a Bronze Star Medal during his second deployment to Iraq. But his service to others didn't end when he took off the uniform. Helping people was simply who he was. A hero to us through and through.
Jason was the kind of man who would pull over to help a stranger change a tire, even if he had somewhere else to be. If you had a question, he had an answer-and he would happily explain it three different ways until you understood. He was patient, thoughtful, compassionate, and always willing to lend a hand.
Above all, Jason loved his family.
He leaves behind his beloved wife of 32 years, Gloria, and his children, Christian, Katlyn (Joaquín), Hannah (Jayce), Jadan (Lance), A'naBelle, and Weston.
He was an incredibly proud Papa to Josh, Miles, Evee, Camden, Ray, Soph, and Xav, with another precious grandson on the way. Though he won't be here to hold this newest little blessing, his love and legacy will live on through the generations.
Jason will be forever lovingly remembered by his parents, Beverly and Donn Smith, his sisters, Christina (Frank) Slade and Dawn (Michael) Anna, and countless family members and friends whose lives were brighter because of him. His love, laughter, and inside jokes he brought into the lives of others will remain in their hearts always.
Jason is predeceased by both his father-in-law Jon E. Smith Sr. and mother-in-law Lois A. Smith.
Jason faced unimaginable challenges in the final chapter of his life, fighting with the same strength and determination that defined him. But his final days do not define his story.
His story lives in the people he helped, the lessons he taught, the laughter he shared, and the family he loved.
While we would give anything for one more conversation, one more laugh, or one more hug, we are forever grateful to have called him our Husband, Father, Papa, Son, Brother, and Friend.
Rest easy, Jason. You've spent a lifetime taking care of everyone else.
We'll take it from here.
Forever loved. Forever missed. Never forgotten.
Signing off with a movie quote guessing game Jason loved to play with everyone around him, his family to his coworkers: "Fra-gee-le... it must be Italian!"
A private service will be held at Bath National Ceremony at a later date to honor his Military Service.
