Obituary

Janice G. Erskine, 91, who resided on State Route 36 in Canisteo, passed away early Tuesday morning at the Steuben Centers in Bath, surrounded by her loving children.

Born in Canisteo, December 7, 1934, she was the daughter of Charles M.

and Evelyn Flint Campbell. Janice had resided her entire life in the Canisteo area. She was a graduate of Canisteo Central School and was a great example of being a loving wife, mother, grandmother and home maker.

She was a member of the Faith Independent Baptist Church in Canisteo. She was predeceased by her parents, her husband, Rev. Lester Erskine, whom she married on May 1, 1954, her daughters, Suzanne Erskine and Terry O'Dell, her son, David Erskine, her brother, Charles G. Campbell, her great grandson, Jeremy Cole Stewart and her great great granddaughter, Isabella Dombrowski.

Surviving are her daughters, Karen (James) McGlynn of Bath, and Kathy (John) Townsend of Bath, her son, William (Gail) Erskine of Vermont, her sister, Bonnie Erskine of Canisteo and her brother Larry (Carolyn) Campbell of Canisteo, 13 Grandchildren, 24 great grandchildren and 12 great great grandchildren, several nieces, nephews and cousins .

The family will be present to receive friends on Saturday (August 1, 2026) at the Brown & Powers Funeral Home 6 Spruce Street in Canisteo from 10 AM until Noon at which time a funeral service will be held with Pastor Daniel Todd officiating. Burial will follow at West Jasper Cemetery.
