James F. Wheeler, 70, of County Route 119, passed away Friday (February 19, 2016) at the Hornell Gardens.
Born in Blossburg, PA, July 6, 1945, the son of James F. and Alice Johnson Wheeler, he had resided in the Canisteo area nearly all his life. He had been employed as a mechanic for the Steuben County Highway Department.
Jim was an avid hunter and a member of the Canisteo Rod & Gun Club, The Hornell Moose Lodge, the Hornell Association and the Canisteo American Legion Post.
He was predeceased by his parents, James and Alice Wheeler, his sister, Lena Wilson as well as two nephews, Larry and Bill Wilson.
He is survived by his sister, Polly Carbone (Ronald Aultman) of Canisteo, nieces, Jen, Linda, Missy, Penny, Schuyler, Caleigh and MacKenna and nephews David, Cody, Kenny and Ed "Bun" Bliss Jr. special cousins; the Woodard-Bouton family from Hedgesville.

The family will be present to receive friends at the Brown & Powers Funeral Home, 6 Spruce St., Canisteo on Monday from 5 until 7 PM where a memorial services will be held following calling hours at 7 PM. Rev. Donald Maynard will officiate.
