James (Jim) McCormick, 65, of Almond NY passed away peacefully April 25, 2025 at the home of his former wife Mary McCormick after a long illness. He was born in Hornell NY on September 12, 1959 to Cyril and Anna Marie (Ersley) McCormick, who predeceased him.
Jim lived in the Almond area almost his entire life. He was a carpenter by trade, working for several construction companies over the years. He was an avid outdoor enthusiast and was happiest spending time in Bully Hill State Forest with Molly, his beloved dog and companion.
Jim is survived by his daughter Madison McCormick (Clay Collins); Madison's mother Mary McCormick; sisters Carolyn Hickox, Patricia (Kevin) Palmiter, Linda McCormick, Eileen Neu; brother Richard (Debbie) McCormick; maternal aunt Patricia (Richard) Clippard; former brother in law Michael Hickox; several nieces, nephews and cousins. He is also survived by numerous life long friends.
His family would like to thank all of the medical personnel that cared for Jim during his illness. A special thank you to CareFirstNY staff for their compassionate, loving care during Jim's final weeks.
Calling hours will be on Friday (May 2, 2025) from 4-6pm at Bender Brown and Powers Funeral Home, 354 Canisteo Street Hornell NY, where a Funeral Service will take place at 6:00pm with Deacon Robert McCormick officiating. Burial will be in St Mary's Cemetery, Rexsville NY.
