Died - James Richard "Jim" Moser 78, of North Hornell, NY and Zephyrhills, FL - son of Richard F. Moser and Dorothy L. (Healy) Moser - both deceased - of Allegany, NY. Mr. Moser is survived by his wife - Connie J. (Saxton) Moser - four children - Michelle Anderson of Blockville, NY, Richard F. Moser II of Harford, PA, Thomas E. Moser of Jamestown, NY and Patricia J. Coates of Prescott Valley, AZ. Also included are 3 step children - David Goodwin of Arkport, NY, Diane Goodwin of Hornell, NY, Daniel Goodwin of Allentown, PA and 11 grandchildren. Mr. Moser was predeceased by a son - Patrick J. Moser formerly of Jamestown, NY. Special friends include Ron, Julie, Bonnie and David.



Mr. Moser was retired from Steuben Gas Storage Co. for whom he had worked 12 years - retiring in 2003. Prior to that he had been employed by Tennessee Gas Pipeline Co. for 25 years and with his first wife - Sandra S. (Russell) Moser - had operated the Falconer Liquor Store for 7 years.



A graduate of SUNY@Delhi and The Manlius School - he had also attended Syracuse University and Olean High School. At various times Mr. Moser had been active in Scouting, Elks, Lions Club, Moose Club, American Legion SAL, Sentinel Heights VFD and AFG. Jim enjoyed golfing, woodworking and did a little fishing after retiring. As a motorcycle enthusiast, Jim was active with the GWRRA in Florida and in the Olean & Hornell area. In Hornell you could find him leading Breakfast Rides, for a contingent of local retired fellows, from the parking lot behind the Texas Hot, on Wednesday mornings during the summer.



His favorite saying was a quote from Abe Lincoln - "most folks are only about as happy as they want to be" - he said that was his motto for life and being happy was a matter of choice - so - he chose to be happy.



Visitation and a memorial service will be held on Friday June 17th at Bender-Brown and Powers Funeral home in Hornell. Visitation will be at 1pm, with a memorial service at 2pm. In lieu of flower, donations can be made to the American Cancer Society, American Heart Association or the Salvation Army.
