James F. Blanchard, 83, formerly of Madison Avenue, passed away Wednesday (November 26, 2008) at the Veterans Administration Medical Center in Bath.
Born in Hornell, July 30, 1925, the son of Leon and Dora Hall Blanchard,he had resided most all his life in Hornell.He had been employed at the Former Westinghouse Plant in Bath, the former Foster Wheeler Corporationin Dansville, and for several years operated the Keystone Gas Station inHornell. Jim had served his country as amember of the United States Navy. He was a member of the VFW, the Moose Lodgeand a member for over 50 years of the Bath Elks Lodge.
He was predeceased by his parents, a grand daughter Dianda,sister, Mary Blanchard and half sister Margaret Tasselo, as well as a halfbrother, Louis Howe.
He is survived by his wife, Doris Cox Blanchard whom hemarried in 1945, 2 sons, John (Colleen) Blanchard of Troupsburg, and James(Paula) Blanchard Jr., of Monroe,N.C., his brother, Paul Blanchardof Caledonia, 6 Grandchildren, 3 greatgrandchildrens, nieces & nephews.

The family will be presentto receive friends on Sunday from 2 PM until 3:30 PM at the Bender - Brown & Powers FuneralHome, 354 Canisteo St, Hornell where funeral services will follow calling hoursat 3:30 PM. Rev. Craig Brittingham will officiate. Burial will be in Howard Cemetery.
