Jack L. White, 76, of 32 Pine Street, passed away with his family and cherished friends by his side Wednesday (April 17, 2013).
Born in North Hornell, NY, May 5, 1936, the son of Clifford and Esther Cornish White, he had resided in Hornell and Arkport all his life. Jack worked for the former Tracy & Jones, Eilia Construction, and later Air Vent Aluminum before starting his own business- "Jack L. White General Contractor" in which he continued to work throughout the Hornell and surrounding areas for over 50 years.
On November 3, 1956, he married his high school sweetheart, Dorothy Ormsby, who survives. Jack was a kind man and mentor whom many admired and looked up to. He will be remembered for his warm smile and generosity. Jack enjoyed football, hunting, and was an avid golfer, but most of all he enjoyed being a husband, father and grandfather.
He was predeceased by his parents and his sister-in-law, Bonnie (Houghtaling) White.
Jack is survived by his wife of 56 years, Dorothy White of Hornell, 4 daughters, Donna (Michael) Clark of Hornell, Sally White of Hornell, Jacqueline (Peter) Clark of Virginia Beach, Virginia, and Sheri-Lyn (Patrick) Mosko of Arkport, 1 son, Jack (Melissa) White of Canaseraga, 1 brother, William White (Linda Hally) of Hornell, 12 grandchildren, 16 great grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.

. The family is being assisted by Chester A. Gosper IV, Director at Bender-Brown & Powers Funeral Home of Hornell.
The family will be present on Friday at 5 PM to receive friends and family for a celebration of Jack's life at the Arkport American Legion, West Avenue, Arkport, NY. No funeral services will be held.
