Jack E. "Snake" Schwartz, 71, of

2404 County Rd 70A, passed away Thursday(February 1, 2007)at Strong Memorial Hospitalin Rochester.



Born in Hornell, November 28, 1935, the son of John L. and Mildred HowellSchwartz, he had resided in the Hornell area all his life. He was employed in the maintenance departmentof the State University of New York at Alfred from 1962 until his retirement in1995. He was a member of the New York Army National Guard from 1954 to 1983. Hestarted with the former Company K, 108th Infantry, and ended hiscareer with Troop C, 101stCav. Heattained the rank of Staff Sergeant prior to his retirement in 1983. He was a member of the John Deere 2 CylinderTractor Club and enjoyed collecting John Deere Tractors. Jack enjoyed hunting and fishing and will bemost remembered for the enjoyment he found in spending time with his family, speciallyhis grandchildren.



He was predeceased by his parents, his brother RobertSchwartz in 1989, his son, Jack L. Schwartz in 2006, as well as his niece,Beverly Schwartz and his nephew, JohnSchwartz.



He is survived by his wife, Janice Elwood Schwartz whom hemarried in 1960, one son, Jeffrey (TeriLynn) Schwartzof Hornell. 2 brothers, Joseph (Joan) Schwartz of Wayland and Raymond (Anne)Schwartz of Hornell, his daughter-in-law, Deanna Schwartz of Conklin, NY, Sister-In-Law,Norma Schwartz of Hornell, 6 grandchildren, Joshua, Amanda, and FeliciaSchwartz of Windsor, NY, Tiffany and Kevin Schwartz of Hornell, and PatrickSchwartz of Conklin, NY, Nieces and Nephews.



The family will be present to receive friends from 4PM until 8PM Monday at the Bender - Brown & PowersFuneral Home,

354 Canisteo St,Hornell, where funeral services will be heldon Tuesday at 11:00 AM. Rev. Charles Williams will officiate. Burialwith military honors will be in Hornell Rural Cemetery.
