Jack D Graham, 85, of 419 Cleveland Ave, passed away peacefully Saturday (November 27, 2010) at St. James Hospital.
Born in Hornell, August 6, 1925, the son of Harry and MaBelle Skinner Graham, he was a lifelong area resident, graduating from Hornell High School, class of 1943. Jack served in World War II as a combat engineer, and later retired from the former SKF Industries of Hornell after 38 years. He was a member of the Hornell American Legion, was very active in the Hornell High School Alumni Assoc., and is also a charter member of the North Hornell Fire Dept. He was an amateur photographer working on many weddings. Jack was an avid golfer, bowler, enjoyed singing in the church choir, and was an all around family man.
He was predeceased by his parent, his 2 sisters Louise Pederson, Vesta "Jean" Thompson, 3 brothers Roy, Gordon, and Donald Graham.
He is survived by his wife of 59 years Dorothy Morris Graham whom he married June 9, 1951, his brother Paul (Marjorie) Graham of Hornell, brother in law Fred (Beth) Morris of Adams, NY, nieces and nephews Sarah (Jim) Goodenbery, Laura (Randy) Smith, Steven Graham, Timothy (Yvonne) Graham, Jeffery Graham, Neil Graham, James Graham, Jennifer Bush, Paula Graham, Linda O'Rourke, Judy Larsen, Kenneth Thompson, Gary Thompson, Richard Graham, Donna Vick, grand nieces Elizabeth Goodenbery, Julianne Goodenbery, and Courtney Smith, and several other grand nieces and nephews.
The family will be present 2-4 & 7-9 PM Tuesday, November 30, 2010, at the Bender - Brown & Powers Funeral Home, 354 Canisteo St, Hornell, where Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, at 11:00 AM, with his brother in law Fred Morris officiating. Burial will be in Hornell Rural Cemetery.
