Jack E. Loper, 80, of North Main Street Ext., passed away on his own terms on Sunday (October 21, 2018) at his home following a long battle with cancer.
Born in Hornell, November 20, 1937, the son of Carlton E. and Olive Coykendall Loper, he had resided in Hornell all his life. Jack was a graduate of Hornell High School, Class of 1956, and served his country as a member of the United States Army from 1961 to 1963. He was employed as a carpenter for several construction companies, including Peter Kelwitt Construction Company. He later was employed at the Hornell Public Library.
Jack was an avid NASCAR Fan, enjoyed gardening, and raising pigs.
He was predeceased by his parents.
He is survived by his daughter, Lynnette (David Ahart) Loper of Candor, his sons, Elden (Ellen) Loper and Jack Loper II, both of Hornell and David (Nita) Loper of Nevada, his brother, James Loper and his son John Loper both of Florida, a special niece, Laura Loper- Hibsch of Varysburg, his cousins Marie Gagne of Massachusetts, and Carl Coykendall of Ohio, his two grandchildren Kyle Loper and Katherine Loper, Special friends; Joanie Stewart and Mike and Cindy Hornbeck.

The family wishes to thank the nursing staff at Noyes Memorial Hospital Radiation Unit as well as the nursing staff at the Bath VA.
Honoring Jack's wishes, there will be no calling hours or services. Burial will be in Hornell Rural Cemetery.
