Hoxsie L. Crosby, 84, a native of Hornell, New York, passed away unexpectedly on Tuesday (November 24, 2015) at his home in Ft. Collins, Colorado.
Hoxsie was born and raised in Hornell and graduated from HHS "Class of 1949". He was a member of the Hornell High School Alumni Association for the past few years.
After high school Hoxsie joined the US Air Force and spent 21 years before retiring to enter into a second career in Power Production. He worked for Salt River Project in Phoenix, AZ, Sikeston Power Project in Sikeston, MO, and finally New York State Electric and Gas at the power plant in Barker, NY. He retired from NYSEG in 1994 and relocated to Arizona for 6 years before settling in Ft. Collins in 2000.
He is survived by 4 children Linda DeVogel of Lockport, Mark (Jeannie) Crosby of MO, Jeffery Crosby of CO, Annie (Jimmy) O'Brien of MS, several grandchildren, and great grandchildren, his brothers Dean Crosby of Arizona, and Lyle Crosby of Ohio, several nieces, nephews.
He was predeceased by his parents Hoxsie R. Crosby, Myrtle Field Crosby, 2 daughters Virginia Bell, and Nancy Domagala, his brother Wayne Crosby, and his friend and ex-wife Corinne E. Boyd Crosby.
Private services were held on Friday (December 4, 2015) at the Bender-Brown & Powers Funeral Home 354 Canisteo Street, in Hornell, with his brother Dean Crosby officiating. Burial was in Rural Cemetery in Hornell.
