Rev. Howard B. Warriner Jr. 77, of 7978 State Route 36, passed away Monday (October 8, 2012) at Strong Memorial Hospital in Rochester.
Born in Greenwood, April 2, 1935, the son of Howard and Lillian VanDuren Warriner Sr., he had resided in the Canisteo area during his early life and was a graduate of Canisteo Central School, Class of 1953. He graduated Houghton College in 1961, and the Colgate-Rochester Divinity School in 1965. He had pastored the United Methodist Churches in New York State from 1956-1975 before moving to Arizona where he continued in the ministry for 27 years before returning to New York in 2002. He was a former member of the Desert Southwest Annual Conference of the United Methodist Church. He was also a former member of the Lions and Rotary Clubs in many of the areas he resided.
He was predeceased by his parents, one sister, Phyllis Boehnke, and one brother, David Warriner.
He is survived by his wife, Arnet Bertch Warriner to whom he was married on June 9. 1956, 2 daughters, Diane (Kevin) Morgan of Arizona, and Jan (Guy Coltier) Staedicke, of Arizona, 2 sons, Steven (Diane) Warriner of Dundee, and Walter (Karen) Warriner , 3 brothers, Edmond (Lois) Warriner of Canisteo, John(Marilyn) Warriner of Canisteo and Richard (Lorraine) Warriner of Greenwood, Sisters-In-Law, Alice Jean Warriner of Rexville and Nena (James Heckman) Kelley of Troupsburg, Brother-In-Law, Walter Dean Bertch (Connie Welty) of Rexville, 5 grandchildren and 5 step grandchildren, nieces and nephews.

The family will be present to receive friends on Friday from 7-9 PM at the Brown & Powers Funeral Home, 6 Spruce St., Canisteo. Funeral services will be held on Saturday at 2 PM at the Canisteo United Methodist Church, 37 Greenwood Street, Canisteo. Burial will be in Greenwood Cemetery.
