Howard W. Sprague, passed away January 10, 2010, at the age of 101 at St James Hospital.
He was born July 13, 1908 in East Bethany to parents Mina and Charles Sprague. Howard worked and retired in 1971 from the Bath Veterans Administration in Bath with 28 years of service. He lived most of his life in Bath and the last ten years with his daughter Julie and son in law Tim Timmerman on the Airport Road in Hornell.
He was predeceased by his parents, a sister Julia, and Harold Sprague.
He is survived by his daughter: Julie (Tim) Timmerman of Hornell, NY, a son: Charles (Helen) Sprague of Winter Haven, FLA, a step son Robert, local grandchildren Tammy (Jay) Lawrence of Fulton, Daniel (Terry) Zayac of Cohocton, Tim (Michelle) Timmerman of Corning, Bonnie (Kevin) Davis of Arkport and several other grand, great and great great grandchildren.
We would like to acknowledge a special nurse Barbara Austin of Hornell, special caregivers Joanna Stevens of Canisteo and Shirley Hawkes of Hornell. Pastor Steven Jewell and the Board of Deacons of the Arkport First Presbyterian Church for all their kindness throughout the last ten years. Thank you also to the wonderful nursing staff of St James Mercy Hospital for the compassionate care they gave Howard in his last days in Hospice Care.
There will be no calling hours. A Private memorial service will be held at the convenience of the family.
Funeral arrangements entrusted to the Robertson Funeral Home of Hornell. Family assisted by Chester A Gosper IV director.
