Howard E. Guinnip, 92, of 40 Center Street, passed away peacefully Monday (January 28, 2013) at Jones Memorial Hospital.



Born in Bradford, PA, October 9, 1920, the son of Erwin and Ethel (Champlin) Guinnip, he graduated from Smethport High School. After graduation Howard joined the US Army during World War II, receiving the American Campaign Medal, Good Conduct Medal, World War II Victory Medal, a Bronze Star, and the Purple Heart. Howard had worked for the former Wolcott Funeral Home, and retired from the USPS after 31 years. He was past Master for the Masonic Lodge #818, past patron of the Angelica OES #231, a 68 year member of the American Legion Post 414 of Angelica, past president of the Angelica School Board, and a member of the Angelica Hose Company.



He was predeceased by his parents, a brother Basil Guinnip, 2 sisters Beatrice Glich, and Leona McKinney.



He is survived by his wife Frances Sullivan Guinnip whom he married on June 29, 1947, 2 sons Dana (Betty) Guinnip of Angelica, Brian Guinnip of Angelica, a granddaughter Heather (Thomas) Goodwin of Virginia, 2 great grandchildren Nicole and Makayla Goodwin, and his niece Loetta Elam of Rochester.



The family will be present 2-4 & 7-9PM Thursday, January 31, 2013, at the Brown & Powers Funeral Home, 101 West Avenue Angelica, where funeral services will be held on Friday, at 11:00 AM, with the Rev. David Ford officiating. Burial will be in Until The Day Dawn Cemetery in Angelica.
