Hilda M. Cartwright, 81, of 1190 Webbs Crossing Road, formerly of Dansville passed away Wednesday (April 17, 2013) in Rochester.
Born in Dansville, July 11, 1931, the daughter of Edward and Geraldine Colburn Stein, she had resided in Dansville and Canaseraga much of her life, moving to Hornell about 5 years ago. Hilda had been employed for several years at FA Owen Publishing in Dansville as well as Gunlocke in Wayland. While in Dansville, Hilda was a communicant of St. Mary's Church, later becoming a communicant of St. Mary's Church in Canaseraga. She was a member of the Bone Builders Exercise program and the Woman's Trust Group both of Hornell. Hilda enjoyed traveling all over the United States, crafting, knitting, attending yard sales, playing dominos, weekly coffee with friends but will be most remembered for her love of family. Hilda was a true "Fashionesta".
She was predeceased by her Parents and her husband John Cartwright on June 26, 2011.
She is survived by her daughter, Kimberly (Jeff Todd) Mark of Geneseo, two sons, David (Tina) Frost of Wayland and Lynn Frost of Hornell, Step-daughter, Linda (Will) Prodell of Florida and Step-son Steven (Lori) Cartwright of Leicester, her sister, Margaret (Jim) Barber of Oregon, and her brother, Merle (Carol) Stein of Florida, 10 grandchildren, 8 Great Grandchildren, several nieces and nephews.

The family will be present to receive friends at the Bender - Brown & Powers Funeral Home, 354 Canisteo St, Hornell on Sunday from 6-8 PM. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Monday at 11 AM at St. Mary's Church in Canaseraga. Burial will follow in South Sparta Cemetery. Following the Mass, a luncheon will be held at the Dansville Moose Lodge, 6 Main Street, Dansville, NY.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that those wishing make memorial donations to the Hornell Area Humane Society, 7649 Industrial Park Road, Hornell, NY 14843.
