Herbert L. Ribble, 86 of 71 Church St, passed away Friday (September 30, 2011) at home with his loving wife by his side.
Born in West Sparta, the son of Leonard and Lena (Schoonover) Ribble, he has resided in the Hornell area most of his life. Herbert served his country in the United States Army as a Chief Gunner during WWII. HeHeHe was a farmer for many years before retiring as a supervisor from the Hornell Housing Authority. Herbert was proud of his Native American Heritage and loved the outdoors; hunting and fishing. He was known for his love of animals and nature.
He was predeceased by his parents, brothers and sisters; his first wife, Beulah J. Ribble, the mother of his children in 1975, and second wife, Anna (Guild) Ribble in 2000.
He is survived by his wife, Doris (Varney) Ribble of Hornell, one son, Jerry Ribble, three daughters, Cathy Miller of Hornell, Carol Grant and Cindy (Rick) Roof both of Auburn, ten grandchildren, many great grandchildren, several nieces and nephews.

A graveside service will be held on Wednesday (October 5, 2011) at the Hornell Rural Cemetery at 11Am with the Rev. Jerry Springston officiating.
Funeral arrangements are entrusted to the Bender-Brown & Powers Funeral Home of Hornell.
