Herbert D. Bates, 72, of 7678 County Route 70, passed away Saturday (December 15, 2012) at his home.
Born in Hammondsport, July 11, 1940, the son of Herbert A. and Dorothy Stratton Bates, he had resided for more than 40 years with the Hubert and Suzanne Coddington Family in Hornell. He had been employed at Mercury Aircraft in Hammondsport, and served his country as a member of the United States Navy from 1958-1960.
He was predeceased by his parents, and his sister Rose Willis.
He is survived by one sister, Joanne Stugard , a brother-in-law, Harold Willis as well as his family at Maryville Home for Adults in Howard.
