Helen M. Swineford, 88, a resident of Manor Hills in Wellsville, passed away peacefully on Saturday (June 29, 2013) at the Wellsville Manor, after a short illness.
Born in Batavia, May 21, 1925, the daughter of Floyd and Isabella (White) Legg, she had resided in Allegany County area for the past couple years, spending most of her life in the Batavia area. She had worked for Sylvania in Batavia for 30 years, and also Comstock Foods in Bergen, New York as an inspector. Helen was a resident of 400 Towers in Batavia for many years, where she had numerous friends.
She was predeceased by her parents, her husband Woodrow Wilson Swineford in 1972, whom she married in 1947, and was also predeceased by her sister Ruth Smith.
She is survived by a daughter Arlene J. Lehnis of Depew, 3 sons Floyd W. "Woody" Swineford of Angelica, Thomas L. "Tommy" Swineford of Batavia, Rudy D. Swineford of Rochester, special daughter in law and friend Sheila Hough of Belmont, 11 grandchildren, and several great and great great grandchildren.
The family will be present 2-3pm Monday, July 1, 2013, at the Brown & Powers Funeral Home, 101 West Avenue Angelica, where funeral services will be held at 3:00 PM. Burial will be in Stafford Cemetery.
