Helen M. Pierce, 77, of County Road 14, passed away early Monday morning (January 16, 2017) shortly after arrival at St James Mercy Hospital.
Born in Hornell, August 17, 1939, the daughter of George and Freda Clukey Askins, she had resided in the Hornell- Arkport area all her life. Helen was a graduate of Hornell High School, and received her LPN Degree from BOCES in Hornell. She was employed at Noyes Memorial Hospital in Dansville for 26 years.
She was predeceased by her parents, and her sister, Betty McManus.
She is survived by her husband, David Pierce to whom she was married in 1958, three sons; Michael Pierce of Hornell and Marty and Thomas Pierce both of Arkport, her brother; George (Susan) Askins of Canisteo and her sister, Shirley Preston of Hornell, six grandchildren; Cody Pierce, Kristen Pierce, Sarah Pierce, Kyle Pierce, Jason Pierce and Breann Pierce, 2 great grandchildren, her long time friend; Lois Chapman of Burns, nieces and nephews.

The family will be present to receive friends on Thursday from 1-3 PM and 5-7 PM at the Bender - Brown & Powers Funeral Home, 354 Canisteo St, Hornell where Funeral services will follow calling hours at 7 PM. Burial will be in Heritage Hill Cemetery, Arkport.
