16 Cottage Ave,passed away Friday (February 17, 2006) at St. James Hospital.
Born in DuBois, PA, August 10, 1911, the son of Ira D. and AnnaM .( Powers ) Bowers, he had resided in Hornell since 1928. Harvey had beenassociated with his father in the operation of the former Ira Bowers BarberShop in DuBois, PA. in his earlier life, and retiredin 1978 from Stern & Stern Textiles in Hornell where he had beenemployed as a Jig Operator for 40 years.He was a member of the former Park United Methodist Church , The Hornell Sportsman Club, the Hornell RifleAssociation, the Sons Of Italy of the Carducci Lodge of Hornell and the Hornell Association.
He was predeceased by his wife, Velma AngellBowers in 1987, 2 brothers, John and Ira Bowers and his sister, Shirley AnnFerrell.
He is survived bynieces & nephews including, Marilyn Grillo andThomas and Carol Kinney both of Hornell, Betty and Gene Savilleof Florida, Pat and Lyle Kalkhof of Florida, Jay Angell of Cuba, Maxine Ginder ofAlabama, Marlee Zinner ofWellsville, Douglas and Charlotte Clark of Morrisville, Cynthia Clemens ofOhio, Ann and Mike Gorman of Ohio, Linda and Diane Bowers of NiagaraFalls, sister-in-law, Helen Bowersof Niagara Falls, and a cousin, GladysStanton of Ohio. Several grand nieces and nephews.
The family will be presentto receive friends from 6 PMuntil 8 PM Monday at the Bender-Brown& Powers Funeral Home,
354 Canisteo St., Hornell where funeral services will followcalling hours at 8 PM. Deacon Robert McCormick will officiate. Burial will be in Hornell Rural Cemetery. Funeral arrangementsentrusted to Robertson Funeral Home Inc.
