Harold A. Norton, 85, of
6508 Hughes Road, Town of Howard, passed away Saturday (April 28, 2007) at St. James Hospital.
Born in Town Of Howard,October 17, 1921,the son of Walter and Susan Wilson Norton,he had resided nearly all his life in the Town of Howard. He was a graduate of Canisteo Central School,class of 1939 and was employed as a dairy farmer in the Town of Howard for 30 years.Later, he was employed as a custodian inthe Canisteo Elementary School for 22 years, prior to retiring as headcustodian in 1991.
Harold had attended the Canisteo Wesleyan Church, the Hornell Bible Churchand the Buena Vista Wesleyan Churchfor many years. On June 16,1951, he married the former Catherine Cranmerand together, they enjoyed more than 55 years of marriage.
He was predeceased by his parents, Walter and Susan WilsonNorton.
Survivors include hiswife Catherine and daughter Cynthia at home, his brother, Walter Norton ofHornell, twin sisters-in-law, Caroline Cranmer and Carolyn Miller both of Elmira, one nephew, Paul (Barbara) Norton of BeaverDams, 3 nieces, Betty JoAnn Norton of Hornell, PamelaNicholson and Deborah (Craig) Field of Horseheads, 2great nephews, Ryan Itjen of Horseheadsand Ricky (Valerie) Norton of Tulsa, Oklahoma, 6 great nieces, Michelle (Leo) Micale of North Attleborough,Mass., Yvette (David) Schaeffer of Moyock, North Carolina, Yvonne Vorhees of Phoenix, Arizona, Suzette (Pete) Regini of East Greenwich Rhode Island, Paula (Earl) Leonardof Beaver Dams, Heather (Bruce) Merrill of Painted Post, 17 Great Great nieces and nephews, 1 great greatgreat niece, many cousins including first cousinsGerald (Helen) Freeland of Canisteo and Eleanor (Gerald) Williams of Oxford,and many friends.

The family will be presentto receive friends at the Brown & Powers Funeral Home,
6 Spruce St., Canisteoon Saturday from 1 PM to 4 PMwherefuneral services for the immediate family will follow at 4 PM. Rev. DanielPickering, Rev. Edward Crandall and Rev. Doug Jones will officiate. Burial will be in Bennett's Creek Cemetery.
