Harold E Gadsden, 75, of 6854 Upper Glen Ave, passed away Monday (August 23, 2010) at Strong Memorial Hospital.
Born in Walterboro, SC, June 21, 1935, the son of Samuel and Francena Williams Gadsden, he had resided in Hornell since 1959. Harold retired from Local Union 435 of Rochester, as a construction worker. He was an avid fisherman, stock car racing, loved watching wrestling on TV, and loved to take country rides with his family.
He was predeceased by his parents, a daughter Lorie Ann Gadsden, and a son James Gadsden.
He is survived by his wife Minnie Pearl Sheppard Gadsden of Hornell, daughters Brenda Gadsden Blake of Hornell, Edith Gadsden of Rochester, Okeena Gadsden of Hornell, Madeline Barkins of Syracuse, Margaret Ann Gadsden of SC, Michelle Gadsden of SC, sons David Gadsden of Hornell, Harold Gadsden of SC, Lawrence Gadsden of FLA, and Harold Gadsden of SC, 2 sisters Frances Marion Gadsden of Delaware and Carrie Rhynes of Rochester, several grandchildren, great grandchildren and nieces, and nephews.
The family will be present 2-4 & 7-9PM Friday, at the Bender - Brown & Powers Funeral Home, 354 Canisteo St, Hornell, where funeral services will be held on Saturday, at 1:00 PM, with Rev. Tim Hammond officiating. Burial will be in Hornell Rural Cemetery.
