Grace M. Spangler 83, of Angelica, loving wife, mother, sister, aunt and grandmother, passed away peacefully at her home Monday (February 25, 2013).
Grace was born on March 30, 1929 in Arcade to Albert and Ella Lamb. She spent most of her childhood in Friendship. On August 3, 1952 in Hinsdale, she married the love of her life Bruce C. Spangler who predeceased her in 1993.
Missing her are her 3 children Beth (Craig) Schlau of Angelica, Retired Lieutenant Colonel Robert (Sharon) Spangler of Stafford, VA, and Kirk "Cork" Spangler of Angelica. She was proud of and loved her 4 grandchildren Stuart and Brad Spangler of Richmond, VA, Rhyan Spangler of Long Island, NY, Brooke Spangler of Vermont where she is attending schoool. Also many nieces and nephews.
Surviving and in her heart are her sisters Irene Henning of New Park, PA, Louise Ross of Angelica, Beverly (Joe) Coddington of Sparta, TN, Connie (Wayne) West of Little Genesee, her brother Donald (Joy) Lamb of Cuba, sister in law Mary Lamb of Allegany.
Predeceasing but not forgotten are her brother Ronnie (Mary)Lamb, her sister Elsie (Chad) Chadderon, brother in laws James (Louise) Ross, and Scotty (Irene)Henning.
Grace was most proud of being the Angelica Postmaster for 36 years. She was a member of the Legion Post 414 Ladies Auxillary, the United Methodist Church, the United Methodist Church Christian Women, the Angelica Booster Citizens, and a former member of the Camelot Choraleers. She liked to draw, do crafts, and sing. She enjoyed also being involved in fundraisers in the community. She loved her family and friends and her home in Angelica that was filled with laughter and love.
A Memorial service will be held at the Angelica United Methodist Church on Saturday (March 2, 2013) at 3:00pm with Leslie Haggstrom officiating. A private family burial will be at Until the Day Dawn Cemetery.
