Gloria Jean Scott, 80 of 5280 Sunnyside Road, passed away Thursday (May 27, 2010) at home surrounded by her family following a long courageous battle with cancer..



Born in Hornell, June 15, 1929, the daughter of Edgar and Elzora (Spencer) Combs, she had resided all of her life in the Hornell/Canisteo area until moving to Middlesex in 1998.



She was predeceased by her parents as well as her husband, Forrest R. Scott Sr. in 2002, one sister Ella Mae Woodworth and one brother Hiram Combs.



She is survived by seven sons, Forrest R. Scott Jr. of Wayland, John N. Scott of Middlesex, David L. (June) Scott of Middlesex, Richard A. (Patricia) Scott of Webster, Donald L. (Nancy) Scott of NC, Carlyle S. (Ann) Scott of Bath and Kevin S. Scott of Hornell, two daughters, Kay Lynn Gilman of NC and Barbara (Sam) Austin of Hornell, two brothers, Fred (Beverly) Combs of Canisteo and Edgar (Colleen) Combs of Syracuse, two sisters, Betty (Thomas) Caple and Luella (Thomas) Kittell both of Hartsville, 37 grandchildren and 38 great grandchildren, several nieces and nephews.

A memorial service will be held on Tuesday (June 1, 2010) at 7PM at the Bender-Brown & Powers Funeral Home, 354 Canisteo St., Hornell. Burial will be with her husband in the Bath National Cemetery on Wednesday at 10AM. A reception will immediately follow the graveside service at the Bath VFW.
