Gladys L McCool,96, of Tamarac, Florida formerly of Hornell passed away (June 17, 2006) at UniversityHospital, Florida.
Born in Bolivar, June 19, 1909, the daughterof Adelbert and Elva Alice Gardner Baldwin, she had resided in Hornell until 1977, thenmoving to Oklahoma City,and later to TamaracFlorida. Gladys had retired from the former Bethesda Hospital as an RN/Nurse, where she beena nursing supervisor in the operating room. She was a former member of the ParkUnited Methodist Church of Hornell where she had been the chairman of Socialconcerns of the administrative board of the Church. She actively supported theAmerican Red Cross Blood Program for 27 years and received a plaque honoringher many years of service in 1977. She also served on the Red Cross board for28 years, and served on the Board of directors of the former Steuben CountyHeart and Tuberculosis Assoc. Gladys taught nurses aid classes at BethesdaHospital for 15 years, and was instrumental in starting the First NursesTeaching Day for Steuben County Heart Assoc. Gladys was predeceased by herhusband S. Arthur McCool on June 15, 1969, they had been married since June 16,1932, and was also predeceased by her sister Myrtle Clark.
She is survived by herson James A (Robin) McCool of Tamarac, FLA 1 granddaughter and 1 grandson, and5 great grandchildren
The family will be present 10:00am-12:00pmThursday, at the Robertson Funeral Home,
354 CanisteoStreet, Hornell,where Funeral services will be held at 12:00 PM,Rev. Dan Knopf officiating. Burial will be in Hillside Cemetery,Canisteo .
