Gladys C. Fidler, 97, of 9010County Rt. 46, passed away Wednesday (May 28, 2008).
Born in Town Of Dansville,July 6, 1910, thedaughter of Orra and Mary (Deiter)Crossett, she had resided most of her life in the Town of Dansville. During the past six years she hadresided with Randy and Sanna Jackson of the JacksonAdult Care Home. Gladys was a member of the First Presbyterian Church inArkport, the NYS Teachers Assoc. and the Fremontand Arkport Grange. She is a graduate of the Arkport Central School class of1927, State School of Agriculture at Alfred University Rural Teacher Trainingin April 1928, Training School at Alfred Educational Training Class Certificatein Nov. 1928, a graduate of the University of the State of NY State NormalSchool of Geneseo Aug. 1937 and Completed theAmerican Red Cross Home Nursing course in May of 1943. She taught at threeone-room schools for seven years and was an elementary teacher at Arkport Central Schoolfor thirty eight years; retiring in 1975. Gladys enjoyed gardening, knittingcrocheting and keeping up on the local news. She will also be remembered forloving to visit and share past memories with others.
She was predeceased by her husband Kenneth whom she marriedon December 26, 1942,four brothers; Howard, Joseph, Gerald and Walter Crossett, several nieces andnephews.
She is survived by one brother-in-law; Douglas (Doris) Fidler of Syracuse, Nieces and Nephews; Madaline(Don) Rounsville of Dansville, Mike (Betty) Crossettof Bloomfield, Barbara Schirmer of Rochester, ShirleyYerton of Liverpool, a dear friend Jean Lander Vonglis, three nieces-in-laws; Nellie, Loretta and KayCrossett, several grandnieces and nephews.
A Private memorial service will be held at the convenienceof the family at the Robertson Funeral Home with Rev. David Kilgoreofficiating. Burial will be in White Chapel Cemetery, DeWitt NY.
