Gertrude A. "Trudy" Rice, 82, formerly of Blaine Street, passed away Friday (April 11, 2014) at Ira Davenport Hospital in Bath.
Born in North Hornell, August 23, 1931, the daughter of Alfred and Helen Stewart Spencer, she had resided in Hornell all her life. She was a graduate of Hornell High School and was employed as a secretary for 20 years at the former Karl Medical Group in Hornell and later for over 30 years at the Robert A. Sweeney Agency. Trudy was a member and former trustee of the United Presbyterian Church of Hornell.
She was predeceased by her parents, and her sister, Elaine Cline.
She is survived by her niece, Martha Austin of Dover, PA, several cousins and two special friends, Patricia Campbell of South Hornell, and Teresa Bates of Hornell.

Family and friends are invited to attend a funeral service on Tuesday at 1 PM at the Bender - Brown & Powers Funeral Home, 354 Canisteo St, Hornell with Rev. Steven Jewell officiating. Burial will be in Hornell Rural Cemetery.
