Geraldine VanSkiver age 88 of Grand Street passed away peacefully on Sunday (June 30, 2024) at home surrounded by family.
She was born in Hornell, NY on April 8, 1936 the daughter of Richard Howard and Wyona Sears Howard, and was a lifelong area resident, and had spent some early years in the Perry and Rome New York areas. On January 15, 1955 she married Leonard VanSkiver who survives. Gerri had worked for the former Bethesda Community Hospital, the former Westinghouse, and retired from Wegmans after 27 years. She enjoyed puzzles, and was a big fan of the New York Yankees, and the Buffalo Bills, however her grandchildren took precedence.
She is survived by her husband Leonard, her daughter Karen (Dennis) Yoder of Almond, her 2 sons Jeffery (Cyndi) VanSkiver of Canisteo, Keith (Marie) VanSkiver of Cohocton, 6 grandchildren Shawn VanSkiver, Kristin Nerton, Brandon Austin, Keri Vanauker, Sarah VanSkiver, Jennifer VanSkiver, 2 step grandchildren Jennifer Yoder, Andy Yoder, several great grandchildren, and 1 great great grandchild, several nieces and nephews.
She was predeceased by her parents, her brother Stephen Howard, her 2 sisters Jean Young, and Joan Howard.
A private service was held on Wednesday (July 3, 2024) at Bath National Cemetery with Pastor Michelle Ormsby-Serra officiating.
