Gerald E "Jerry" "Mouse" Norton

Gerald "Jerry" E Norton, 70, of Hammer Creek Road, passed away Tuesday (January 19, 2010) at home.
Born in Canisteo, September 12, 1939, the son of Erwin and Mary Barron Norton, he was a lifelong area resident. Jerry graduated from Canisteo Central School, and served our country in the Marine Corps for 3 years, and later retired from Canisteo Central School. On November 4, 1967 he married Roberta Aultman Norton who survives. Jerry enjoyed hunting, fishing, the outdoors, Canisteo sports teams, Nascar racing, especially driver Jeff Gordon, but will be mostly fondly remembered for being a loving, husband, father, and grandfather, brother, friend and neighbor.
He was predeceased by his sister Beverly Norton Bove in September 2009, a brother William Norton in October 2007.
He is survived by his wife Roberta Norton, daughter Michelle Hooker of Hornell, son Jay (Kelly) Norton of Wind Gap, PA, sister Marilyn (Joe) Maleckar of Ohio, brother David (Linda) Norton of Canisteo, sister in law Bonnie Norton of Canisteo, grandson Brady Norton, and his pets Freckles and Toby, as well as several nieces and nephews. The family would like to express special thanks to Hospice Nurse Barbara Terry of Canisteo.
The family will be present 12-2pm Friday, at the Brown & Powers Funeral Home, 6 Spruce St., Canisteo, where Funeral services will be held at 2:00 PM, with Lyle Barron officiating.
