Gerald M. (Gerry) Gardner, 25, of

134 East Avenue,passed away unexpectedly Wednesday (February 25, 2009) at St. James Hospital.



Born in Camden,SC, July 25, 1983, the son of Vance Gardner Sr. and Barbara Cotton Gardner he had resided in Hornell all of his adultlife. He was a graduate of Hornell Senior High School, Classof 2001, and had been employed at Gunlocke inWayland. Gerry was a member of the South Hornell Fire Department, and was anaccomplished trumpet player. He will beremembered for playing "Taps" for Veterans Day ceremonies in Hornell. He was also a member of the Show Choir atHigh School, attended State Finals inBand Competition and was a former member of the Hornell Area Wind Ensamble.



He is survived by his parents, Vance and Barbara of Hornell,his children, Nolan, Dezmond and KassidyGardner and their mother, Corie Gardner of Hornell, his sisters, Dawn (Bubba Mullen)Gardner of Kanona,Dana (Todd) Rougeux of Caledonia , brother, V.J. (MaryKubiak) Gardner Jr. of Hornell, his soul mate, Stacy Rawleigh, his god daughter, Mackenzie Gardner of Hornell,several nieces, nephews aunts, uncles and cousins.

The family will be present to receive friends at theBender-Brown & Powers Funeral Home 354 Canisteo Street, Hornell,onMonday from 2-4 & 6-8 PM where funeral services will be held at 8 PMfollowing calling hours. Deacon Robert McCormick will officiate. Burial will be in Hillside Cemetery,Canisteo.
