George E. "Pete" Hoyt, 64, formerly of Hornell, passed away Thursday (October 27, 2011) at Johnson City Medical Center, Johnson City TN.
Born in N. Hornell, June 2, 1947, the son of Edwin A. Hoyt and Eleanor Drake, he had resided in the Hornell area until moving to Greeneville, TN in 1992. George served his country in the United States Army serving in Vietnam where he sustained disabling injuries. He was a member of the National VFW and an honorary member of the Ottway Ruritan Club. George loved hunting and classic cars but most of all his family and his grandchildren.
He was predeceased by his parents as well as one brother; Danny Hoyt.
He is survived by his wife Norma (Clark) Hoyt whom he married on Sept. 10, 1965, one son; George "Pete" (Patti) Hoyt Jr. of Troupsburg, one daughter; Tammy (Tim) Pinkston of Moshiem TN, special friend and brother; Ben Losey of TN, five brothers; Vernon (Patty) Hoyt of SD, Donald (Marilyn) Hoyt of Hornell, Raymond Hoyt of FL, Edwin (Mina) Hoyt Jr. of TN and John Rackley of TN, five sisters; Audrey (Jack) Tallarida of ND, Shirley (Doug) Kimble of Troupsburg, Jule Hoyt of Watkins Glen, Sophie (Bruce) Ingersol of Hornell and Karen (Kelly) Luvison of Sayre PA, five grandchildren; Peter, Derek and Kasey Hoyt, Austin and Kaylee Pinkston, one great grandchild; Bentley Hoyt, several nieces and nephews.

The family will be present to receive friends on Wednesday (November 2, 2011) from 2Pm until 4Pm and from 6Pm until 8Pm, at the Bender - Brown & Powers Funeral Home, 354 Canisteo St, Hornell. Funeral services will be held on Thursday at the funeral home at 11Am with the Rev. Dan Knopf officiating. Burial will be in Greenwood Cemetery with full military honors.
