George E. Doll, 84, a resident of McAuley Manor, passed away peacefully Saturday (September 5, 2015) at McAuley Manor after a long illness.
Born in Hornell, December 5, 1930, the son of George E. and Sarah Doll Sr., he was a lifelong area resident. He was retired from the USPS in Hornell, where he was a carrier, and later was in maintenance. George was a veteran of the US Army, and was a member of the Arkport Legion, Hornell Moose Lodge, Hornell AMVets, and the Hornell VFW. He enjoyed hunting, playing cards, music, traveling and spending time with his family.
He is survived by a daughter Carol Ann (John) Beyea of Texas, 4 sons Daniel (Edna) Doll of Arkport, Steven Doll of Arkport, David (Christine) Doll of Florida, Michael Doll of Elmira, his longtime friend Rose Coleman of Arkport, a sister Sylvia Kemp of Hornell, 2 brothers Albert (Octavia) Skinner of California, Alvin (Debbie) Skinner of Alaska, 9 grandchildren, and several great grandchildren.
The family will be present 11am-12pm Thursday, September 10, 2015, at the Bender - Brown & Powers Funeral Home, 354 Canisteo St, Hornell, where funeral services will be held at 12:00 PM, with the Rev. Pam Carey officiating. Burial will be in Bath National Cemetery.
