George Wesley Cole - Obituary

George Wesley Cole died February 20, 2013 in Wellsville, New York, he was the son of Harold Ritchie and Evaleen Amelia (Grove) Cole. He was predeceased by his wife Lillian Shedden Cole in 2005. They lived for 45 years in Avoca, New York where they raised their children, Jean, Don (died in 1982), Marilyn (Melyn) and Glen. In 1995 George and Lillian moved to Granville Summit, PA near their childhood homes in East Troy and Windfall. After Lillian passed away George moved to Angelica, NY to be near his son Glen.

George and Lillian spent winters after George's retirement from being Head Plumber at the Bath, NY VA Hospital with their daughter Jean and her husband William C. Taylor (deceased 2003). Always keeping busy, George and Lillian spent happy working vacations with Melyn and Joel Richman in Skaneateles, NY where they helped build a horse barn.After Lillian's death George moved to Angelica to be near Glen & his wife Squeeg. George helped Glen at the GRC Paintball field. George was a long-time Mason and a past Master of the Avoca, NY lodge. He was a Lion's Club member.

George is survived by grandchildren Heather Anne Taylor and her children Lillian Jean Reitz and Wesley Reitz. Grandson Don G. Cole II lives in Florida. His wife is Linda. He has two daughters, Donnalyn and Zoe. He is also survived by Grandson Ken Allen and children Kyle and Kendal. He is survived also by David Fairhurst of England.

Granddaughter Katherine, her husband Doug Auer and their children Jacquelyn and Michael live in Jordan, New York and grandson Jason Richman and wife Rose and their daughter Sophie live near Rochester. Jason's daughter Abigail Leah also survives him. Marilyn and Joel's daughter Jessica Richman lives in Philadelphia.

Glen and Squeeg's daughter, April Patrician Cole and her daughter Madison Koons, live in Angelica. Glen's son Glen Robert and his wife Jennifer and their children Riley, Molly and Ava reside in Wellsville. With the help and support of Glen and his family George has had a happy time in his final years.

George is survived by his brother E. E. "Ned" Cole, sister in law Gertrue Cole. His brothers Harold Robert and John G. Cole predeceased him. His sister-in-law Helen Cole lives in Williamsport. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews, and cousins.

The family will be present to receive friends on Friday (February 22, 2013) from 5-7pm at the Brown & Powers Funeral Home 101 West Avenue Angelica, with a Masonic Service at 6:30pm, and a funeral service at 7:00pm with Rev. Tim Middleton officiating. A Memorial service will also be held on Saturday (February 23, 2013) with the Rev. Jasper Smith officating at the Windfall United Methodist Church at 3:00pm.
